But there are thousands of jobs within the arts that span a very wide variety of skill sets. It may be rare to simply make and sell art but it is not rare at all to find jobs within the arts. For visual arts alone you have everything from web and ad design. Mural painting. Actual paintings painting. Every magazine you read. Every cover of every book you hold. So every logo for every company you see. All the art on all the walls of all the places you go to. Photography you see in everything from weddings to the menus you look at. The digital layouts of everything your eyes fall across. All the galleries representing us etc. Here’s the thing though arts has become less and less mainstream and more and more internally funded over the years. So when economies start to crash. Jobs start to become scarce and people are beginning to panic.

We still have I never dreamed I’d grow up to be a super sexy golfing lady but there I am killing it shirt.Because rarely is art funded by the government taught by the schools and accepted by the system. Oh and also most of us have a vast knowledge of how to mix chemicals. Do math. Use power tools. Adjust and problem solve on our feet and are generally incredibly intelligent well-spoken people. Come to the art side.  can’t claim to know who you know, but I have not seen any studies about artists who also have skills in x area. But that doesn’t change whether or not they are able to make a living on just their art.I’m not hating on the arts or artists. I’m advocating being realistic. So I’m advocating people not burying their heads in the sand. I’m advocating making sure adults don’t lie and deceive children in the name of being.
